Man charged with health and safety breach following death of pensioner

A 60-year-old man has been accused of breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act following the death of a pensioner in the Scottish Borders.

Alan Paxton is charged with failing to maintain proper observations and driving a vehicle which struck 72-year-old Ian Hogg - resulting in fatal injuries.

The offence is said to have happened at the premises of Walker Groundworks Ltd, at The Old Smiddy in Kelso, on May 10th, 2022.

Paxton, of Broomlea, Kelso, had his case continued without plea at Jedburgh Sheriff Court until Monday, September 9th.
