A 22-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a disturbance in Kelso at the weekend.

Police swooped on the Jamiesons Court area of town around 8.20pm on Friday evening.

Adam Redpath has been charged with being in possession of a bladed item in a public place, and two counts of threatening or abusive behaviour.

He made no plea when he appeared in private, and on petition, in front of Sheriff Peter Paterson at Selkirk Sheriff Court this afternoon (Monday).

Redpath, who gave an address in Berwickshire, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

He's expected to appear again at Jedburgh Sheriff Court next week.
