Last updated 3rd Jan 2025
Police have confirmed they're probing a number of animal deaths in Kelso over the festive period.
Two horses are feared poisoned after their life-less bodies were found in a field under Hunter's Bridge last Friday (December 27th).
And a sheep was killed in a suspected dog attack, which left another two seriously injured, on the opposite bank of the River Tweed on New Year's Day.
It's unclear if the deaths are linked, but anyone with information is urged to come forward.
It's believed the horses died sometime overnight on Thursday (December 26th) last week, having last been seen around 4pm on Boxing Day.
The field they were in runs along the Sprouston Road, under the "new" bridge.
Meanwhile, the sheep-worrying incident is believed to have happened between 10am and 1pm on Wednesday, January 1st.

Jennifer Wilson, from Nenthorn Equestrian Centre, said: "We were heartbroken enough that we lost the two horses but people need to be made aware.
"You do not ever feed horses, or anyone else’s animals, over the fence.
"And you certainly do not lift your dogs into other people's property to walk them through horse fields."
And she added: "This field is a stone's throw away from another poisoning incident close to the bridge of other animals within a week."

The deaths come less than a year after a four-year-old rare breeds goat, and 12-year-old Shetland pony, were found dead - feared poisioned - at Ark Field Farm, just off the A68 near Grange Hall.
Police have confirmed they have been made aware of the latest incidents. A spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1689 of January 2nd, 2025.”
