Hawick's Julie Forrest has struck Gold at the World Bowls Indoor Championships in Australia.

She defeated New Zealand's Katelyn Inch in the final overnight to win the Women's Singles competition.

But the Scot had to settle for Silver in the Mixed Pairs, after being narrowly edged out by the hosts - Kelsey Cottrell and Men's singles winner Aron Sherriff - in a closely-contested match with Moray bowler Michael Stepney.

The result means she can't retire yet, as she'll now receive another invite to the World Championships in Norfolk in the new year.

Last year, Teviotdale Indoor Bowling Arena in Hawick was renamed in Julie's honour to pay tribute to the then four-times world champion.

She became a member of the Scottish Borders club shortly after it opened in 1986, going on to win the club championship 14 times. She has also won four British singles titles.
