Jewellery worth more than £3,000 has been stolen after a house was broken into in the Borders.

Thieves targeted the property Eddleston's Bellfield Crescent on Tuesday (June 11th), between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Enquiries are ongoing to discover if anything else was taken in the raid.

Police have today issued an appeal for information.

It comes just days after a warning was issued following a number of thefts and attempted thefts in nearby Peebles.

Locals were urged to be aware of their home and vehicle security following a spate of incidents.

And, in November last year, £30,000 worth of jewellery was stolen during a break-in in West Linton, also in Peeblesshire.
