A man accused of dragging a police officer along the road in his car, after reversing "harshly" when he attempted to reach for his keys through an open window, has appeared in court in the Borders.

Mohammed Hussain, from Birmingham, has been charged with culpable and reckless conduct on the A7 between Hawick and Selkirk on March 22nd, 2023.

It's alleged he drove in an erratic fashion by repeatedly crossing the central line onto the opposite side of the road; repeatedly swerved towards the verge, and accelerated and broke harshly - to the danger of others in the area.

Hussain is also accused of failing to provide a specimen of blood, without reasonable excuse, to ascertain his ability to drive.

He denied all the charges when he appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday), and the case was continued to trial on July 4th, with preliminary hearings on June 19th and 2nd.
