A 56-year-old woman has been charged with driving dangerously, and at almost three times the legal alcohol limit, on the A68 north of Jedburgh.

It's alleged Kay Glover drove a vehicle with its airbags deployed and damage to its front end, at a speed "grossly below the speed limit" last month - all while intoxicated.

She is also accused of providing a breath test which recorded a reading of 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 ml of breath on the same date - May 27th, 2023 - when the limit is 22mg.

Glover, of Huntlyburn Terrace, Melrose, denied both charges at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday), and the case was continued to trial in August.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, a 54-year-old woman is to stand trial next month accused of being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control at a Borders beauty spot.

It's alleged a four-year-old boy was bitten by the Labrador and Staffordshire Terrier cross-breed, named Bailey, during an incident at the beach in Coldingham on April the 30th last year.

Fiona McMurdo, from Haig Street in Grangemouth, pled not guilty to the offence at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, and the case was continued to trial on July 4th.
