Teen, 16, arrested after pensioner suffers serious facial injuries in playground 'attack'

A teenager has been arrested in connection with an alleged attack on a pensioner at a children's playground in the Borders.

The 72-year-old was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries following an incident, which took place in Innerleithen's Hall Street around 7pm on Saturday, June 8th.

Police have today (Thursday) confirmed a 16-year-old boy has now been charged and a report, detailing the circumstances, will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
