The 72-year-old was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries following an incident, which took place in Innerleithen's Hall Street around 7pm on Saturday, June 8th.

Police have today (Thursday) confirmed a 16-year-old boy has now been charged and a report, detailing the circumstances, will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Constable Joe Carmichael, from Police Scotland, said: “I would like to thank the public for their assistance with our investigations.”
