Mountain biker airlifted to hospital following second emergency call-out to Glentress in as many days
A mountain biker has been airlifted to hospital in a multi-agency operation after getting injured at Glentress.
Emergency teams rushed to the rider's aid after the alarm was raised shortly before 1pm this afternoon (Monday).
It was Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team's second call-out to the Borders beauty spot in as many days.
The casualty received treatment at the side of the bike trail before being stretchered uphill to a waiting ambulance, which then transported him downhill to a helicopter which had been scrambled from Glasgow.
The air ambulance took off again just before 3pm, and landed at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary soon after.
It's understood to be the seventh time TVMRT has responded to reports of an injured mountain biker at Glentress in just three months.

Ten of its members worked alongside what's being described as "a substantial team from the Scottish Ambulance Service".
That included the SAS Special Operations Teams - or SORT for short - which is made up of specially trained paramedics normally reserved for hazardous or challenging incidents.
A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: "After treatment on the trailside by paramedics and air ambulance crew, TVMRT packaged the casualty and then extracted on our stretcher uphill to a waiting ambulance.
"The casualty was then transferred down the hill to a waiting air ambulance helicopter for onward movement to Edinburgh."
