Man who fired BB gun in Galashiels is remanded for reports
A man who discharged a pistol-style ball-bearing gun "in the vicinity of the public" in Galashiels has been remanded in custody after failing to attend an appointment with a social worker.
Niall Gray was unable to be sentenced at Selkirk Sheriff Court yesterday (Monday) after background reports previously called for were unavailable.
The 33-year-old, of Talisman Avenue, Galashiels, had pled guilty to possession of the imitation firearm and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in the town's Melrose Road, on March 12th this year.
Reports were called for to see if there was any alternative to a jail sentence.
But Sheriff Joseph Platt this week heard Gray missed the appointment as he was with a support worker.
He was remanded in custody for reports until October 30th, when the case will recall.
Personal appearance
A Peebles teenager's admitted repeatedly punching a man on the head to his injury at a bus on the town's High Street.
Liam Moffat, who's 19 and gave an address in Victoria Park Drive, carried out the attack on May the 6th this year.
Sentence has been deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court until later this month, when he has another case calling, and for him to make a personal appearance.
Assaulted teenager
A 42-year-old man has admitted assaulting a 16-year-old girl during a car journey between Lauder and Stow.
Neil Todd, from Newtown St Boswells, repeatedly seized the teenager by the body, threw food at her and struck her on the head to her injury on the B6362 road on June 9th this year.
He also pled guilty to repeatedly seizing the steering wheel of the vehicle while it was moving - causing the driver to swerve - and attempting to exit by opening the passenger door - to the danger of everyone there.
Sentence has been deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court until later this month for a personal appearance.
Good behaviour
A court's been hearing how a 25-year-old woman from Newtown St Boswells pulled out a bar worker's hair after being warned about her behaviour and told she wouldn't be served any more alcohol.
Rebecca Robertson also assaulted two customers who came to the employee's aid at the village's Dryburgh Arms on June the 24th this year.
Sentence has been deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court for six months to give her a chance to prove she can behave.
