Police probe 'unexplained' death in Hawick

Police say they're treating the death of a man in Hawick as "unexplained".

Emergency crews were called to an address in the town's Wellfield Road around 8.30am this morning (Saturday), and a forensics tent was erected outside.

An investigation has been launched to establish what happened, however officers say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Enquiries are ongoing, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.30am on Saturday, we were made aware of the death of a man on Wellfield Road, Hawick.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
