Hawick man placed on Sex Offenders Register after messaging women on Snapchat

A 29-year-old man from Hawick has admitted messaging two women from a Snapchat account created in another man's name before "propositioning" them for sex.
At Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday), Darren Henderson pled guilty to communicating indecently with one woman in December 2021, and sending sexual messages to another in April 2022.
The court heard the women only accepted his friend's request after believing him to be someone else, and then blocked him after the chat "quickly turned sexual".
Sentence has been deferred until April 8th for background reports, and Henderson, of Teviot Road, Hawick, has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register meantime.
Dangerous driving
A court's heard a cyclist was left sandwiched between two cars after being overtaken on both sides by two motors.
While one vehicle had overtaken her lawfully, another had undertook her using the grass verge at the side of the road, and failed to maintain a safe distance.
At Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday), Steven Turner - who was behind the wheel of the pick-up - pled guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.
The offence, which was captured on dashcam, took place on the A701, between Romannobridge and Lamancha, on May the 29th last year.
The 25-year-old scaffolder, who appeared in court in army combats and gave an address in Devon, said the brakes had failed on his vehicle and he panicked. "It was a freak accident," he added.
Turner, who has previously been disqualified for drinking and driving, was fined a total of £340 and banned from the road for 12 months. He was also ordered to resit his driving test.
Driving ban
A 27-year-old man who planned to drive to Berwick for a McDonald's after downing wine misjudged a corner and ended up off the road.
Police were called to the crash on the A1 near Eyemouth after the alarm was raised shortly after 1am on February 10th this year.
Ruairidh McCorquodale, of Swan Avenue, Chirnside, was breathalysed and found to be almost four-times the legal drink-drive limit.
He recorded a reading of 86mg of alcohol in his breath when the limit is 22mg.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday) heard McCorquodale - who has a previous conviction - had recently lost his job in Kelso after repeatedly turning up late.
He was disqualified from driving for three years and fined a total of £320.
