A 37-year-old man from Hawick has admitted carrying out a sex act on himself in a woman's garden, after banging on her front door and window.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday) heard the 57-year-old was alerted by her dog barking around 11.30pm on May the 4th this year.

She was at home with her husband at the time but, when they attended at the front door, in the town's Charles Street, there was no sign of anyone.

It wasn't until the next morning that she noticed the garden gate had been left open and, when she checked their Ring doorbell camera footage, she saw John Torrie with his manhood out the front of his trousers and touching himself.

India McLean, prosecuting, said it "lasted about a minute" before he leaves.

Torrie, of Hillend Drive, Hawick, pled guilty to a charge of intentionally exposing his genitals in a sexual manner for another to see without their consent.

Sentence has been deferred until November the 4th for background reports.
