Man threatened to damage Hawick police station during 999 call

A 29-year-old man has admitted threatening to cause damage to Hawick police station during a 999 call, in which he also made what's been described as "serious threats of violence" towards officers.
Alastair Cox advised he would attend the offices at Wilton Hill after dialling the emergency helpline from his home in the town's Lovel Court on April the 18th.
He's also pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Borders General Hospital during a separate incident on July the 1st.
Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Monday) heard Cox shouted and swore, and uttered threats of violence at the Melrose healthcare facility, while also attempting to spit on a security officer.
Sentence has been deferred for background reports until October the 28th.
'Drunk out of his skull'
A 35-year-old man who repeatedly attempted to punch a member of ambulance crew trying to help him after he was found "drunk out of his skull" at a bus stop in Selkirk has been fined a total of £300 at the town's Sheriff Court and ordered to pay his victim £200 compensation.
Nicholas McGuire has also been ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid work, as part of a nine month Community Payback Order, after repeatedly pushing a police constable called to assist, and spitting on the officer's chest and arm.
The court heard McGuire - formerly of Portree and now living in Bannerfield Drive, Selkirk - has not drunk since the incident, in Ettrick Terrace, last month (August 9th).
Assault to severe injury
A 22-year-old man has admitted striking another man on the head with a kitchen utensil at a Japanese restaurant in Galashiels - to his severe injury.
Jun Jie Chen, who gave an address in the town's Channel Street, committed the offence at OKome, in nearby High Street, on June the 29th this year - the town's Gala Day.
Sentence has been deferred until November the 25th at Selkirk Sheriff Court for a personal appearance.
Break-in
A 55-year-old man from Edinburgh who stole a laptop and watch during a break-in at a house in Galashiels has been fined a total of £740 at Selkirk Sheriff Court today.
Gary Hobbins previously admitted the offence, which happened at the town's Thistle Court on June the 16th last year.
He also admitted his involvement in the theft of a car, and other items, at another address in Langholm.
Sheriff Peter Anderson warned Hobbins he was getting off lightly due to difficulties he is having with his health.
