Police issue warning after cannabis farm worth £500,000 unearthed in Hawick

Police in the Borders say they'll use every tool at their disposal to remove illegal substances from our streets.

It comes after a cannabis farm with an estimated street value of £500,000 was unearthed in Hawick.

Two men, aged 30 and 40, have been arrested following a raid at the former Buccleuch Hotel in Trinity Street yesterday.

They have been charged in connection with drug offences and are expected to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Friday).

Inspector Robbie Noble said: “We remain committed to disrupting the illicit supply of drugs in our communities and we will use every tool and resource at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our streets.

“Information from the public is vital. If you have any information or concerns about drugs misuse or wider criminality in your area, please contact us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
