Man, 63, taken to hospital following second crash in Berwickshire in as many nights

A 63-year-old man's been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in the Borders.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the A697, south of Greenlaw, after the alarm was raised around 6.20pm last night (Thursday).

Locals say it happened on a straight section of road near Orange Lane.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

It's the second serious crash in Berwickshire in less than 24 hours.

Shortly after 7pm on Wednesday, a 65-year-old woman was taken to hospital following a four-vehicle crash on the A1, near Houndwood.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.20pm on Thursday, officers were called to reports of a two vehicle crash on the A697, near Greenlaw, in the Scottish Borders.

"Emergency services attended and a 63-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
