A man has been charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a woman in Galashiels.

It follows an incident in the town's Bank Street Gardens shortly after 6.25pm on Wednesday (September 6th).

The 23-year-old has also been charged in connection with a separate incident in nearby Cornmill Square, where a man allegedly exposed himself to two females, around the same time.

Police say a report detailing the circumstances will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a woman having been sexually assaulted shortly after 6.25pm on Wednesday.

“We were also made aware of an indecent exposure a short distance away.

“A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incidents. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
