Part of a Galashiels woodland has been taped off by police investigating a report of a serious sexual assault on a 38-year-old woman.

It follows an incident alleged to have taken place in the Scott Park area around 8.10pm last night (Friday).

An area of Gala Policies, next to the town's swimming pool, remains sealed off this morning.

And locals are being urged to avoid the area.

The woodland walk is a popular route between the town centre and the Balmoral housing estate, and close to two schools.
