A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to face three charges under the Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Act 2015.

Sebastian Masawi is accused of being involved in serious organised crime, abduction, assault to injury; and being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs in the Galashiels area.

Masawi, who's originally from the Wolverhampton area, made no plea during the private hearing and the case was continued for further examination.

He was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
