Motorists warned of disruption ahead as patching works get underway on A7
Work's getting underway this morning (Monday) on five days of patching works on the A7 north of Galashiels.
The road will be closed in the area around Buckholm Corner between 8.30am and 4.30pm each day - although the X95 and school bus services will still be allowed through.
Scottish Borders Council is apologising for the disruption.
In a letter to nearby residents, engineer Kenny Fotheringham says: "Residents who reside within the extents of the closure will still be able to access their properties, although there will be delays while the workforce make the site safe to allow any vehicles past."
He also warns the road way could become "very sticky" during the work and be difficult to remove from footwear, bike tyres, pet's paws.
Mr Fotheringham adds: "It will also transfer easily from footwear to floor coverings and furniture. Please be aware of the problems that this material can cause and be advised that once the road has been sprayed, the surface should be avoided until well after the emulsion has been covered with the new surface."

The A7 will also be closed between Hawick and Selkirk overnight tonight and tomorrow to allow for resurfacing. A diversion via the A68 will be in operation between 7.30pm and 6am, and could add 13.7 miles and 20 minutes to some journeys.
Emergency vehicles will still be allowed through.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close the road while work is taking place, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise disruption.
“If you do need to use the A7 on these nights, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.”
