Court hears Galashiels man left woman with scar on head following argument over his drinking
A 36-year-old man who left a woman with a two-inch scar on her head, after pushing her following an argument over his drinking, has been ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work.
Selkirk Sheriff Court heard the woman struck her head against a kitchen unit during the assault at an address in Galashiels.
Bryan Drum admitted to police his behaviour was "unacceptable".
The court heard he had been out drinking on September the 30th last year and returned to the property in Broom Drive after 9pm.
But, when he went to the kitchen to make some food, the woman began pouring cans he'd brought home down the sink.
The court heard she was left feeling "dizzy and blurriness" following the incident, and required stitches for the head wound.

Drum pled guilty to assaulting the woman to her injury and permanent disfigurement when he appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Thursday).
His solicitor, Mat Patrick, said the scar was "below the hair-line" and his client - an agency worker, employed by a construction firm on a site in Galashiels - has "significantly cut down" on his alcohol intake since the offence.
Passing sentence, Sheriff Peter Paterson said Drum is "lucky" the woman - who didn't support the imposition of a non-harassment order - has taken the attitude she has over this.
