A 35-year-old man's appeared in court in the Borders charged in connection with directing serious organised crime.

It comes after police announced the seizure of £670,000 worth of drugs - including cocaine and heroin - during a 15-day operation.

A total of 11 people have been arrested in connection with the haul.

Seven men and three women have all been charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal during the past fortnight for offences in relation to the supply of controlled drugs in the region.

Meanwhile, Chris Ferguson, from Galashiels, faced three charges when he appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court (pictured top) earlier.

As well as being accused of being involved in directing serious organised crime, he also faces two charges of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

He made no plea or declaration during the private hearing, and the case was continued for further examination.

Ferguson was remanded in custody, to appear in court again within the next eight days.
