Man charged in connection with incident in Galashiels which left two pedestrians injured, according to police

A man has been charged in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Galashiels, in which two pedestrians were injured, according to police.

Emergency services swooped on the town's Hall Street after the alarm was raised around 2.40pm yesterday (Thursday).

A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident, while a 50-year-old woman was treated at the scene.

Police say a BMW believed to have been involved was later traced by officers.

A 42-year-old man is expected to appear in court in the Borders later in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.40pm on Thursday, June 13th, police received a report of two pedestrians being injured by a BMW car in the Hall Street area of Galashiels.

“A 47-year-old male pedestrian was conveyed to hospital for treatment, whilst the 50-year-old female pedestrian was treated at the scene.

“The car failed to stop at the scene and was later traced by officers. A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“He is expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, June 14th.”

Hall Street in Galashiels was sealed off for several hours following the incident but has since reopened.
