Police have confirmed they're investigating reports at least two businesses in the Langlee area of Galashiels were held up at knife-point last night (Saturday).

It's understood cash was taken during a robbery at Dalgleish's garage on Melrose Road around 7.40pm.

Ten minutes earlier, a Chinese takeaway in nearby Marigold Bank was also targeted - when a member of staff was threatened. But it's understood the thief escaped empty-handed on that occasion.

One local said a neighbouring chip shop may also have been the victim of a second attempted robbery, although that has not yet been confirmed or otherwise.
