Police have confirmed they've received a report of an assault on a 13-year-old girl at Galashiels Academy.

A 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the incident, which is alleged to have unfolded in the town's Elm Road area last month.

It was included in officers' monthly report to the town's community council, which met in the Burgh Chambers on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10am on Wednesday, October 9th, we were made aware of an assault of a 13-year-old girl in the Elm Road area of Galashiels.

“A 12-year-old girl was charged in connection with the incident and reported to the Youth Justice Management Department.”

The report also reveals a man has been charged in connection with a complaint a customer allegedly exposed themselves in a local restaurant, in a separate incident, the day before.

Elsewhere, enquiries are said to be continuing following a report of fraudulent access to supermarket loyalty points from an address in Netherbank, Galashiels, on October 2nd.

Police have also confirmed arrests have been made following a series of house-breakings in the area - including three reported on the same day.

Properties in Brier Lane, Aster Court, and Overhaugh Street in Galashiels, as well as Galashiels Road in Stow, were among those targeted.

A car was also taken during a raid on a home in Anfield Gardens on October 2nd. Police say a report detailing the circumstances has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Three vehicles parked at Netherdale, windows at the Scottish Borders Council offices in Paton Street and a wall in Melrose Road were among the properties damaged.
