Celtic legend Frank McAvennie has revealed he landed in hospital following a "terrifying" car crash on his way to the Scottish Borders.
It's understood the former striker had been driving to play a round of golf with another former Hoops striker, John Hartson, at West Linton on August 4th when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the A702 near Carlops.
He was taken to hospital following the early-morning smash which left his VW Touareg extensively damaged.
The 64-year-old ex-Scotland star told the @LetMeBeFrankPodcast he only made it out alive thanks to his quick "reflexes" as he tried to steer away from the other vehicle.
McAvennie said: "It was terrifying actually... it could have took me out."
But he joked: "I just think the Big Man's got other plans for me, I think, and yous are not getting out that easy."
Asked on the podcast about his injuries, McAvennie said: “I’m alright. I’ve got it all. I had to go to hospital but I’m just getting on with it.
“I’ve not played golf for a while so I must be bad. My missus and the doctor said (my reflexes saved me)."
