The road between Hawick and Selkirk was closed for around 12 hours while police examined the scene and the wreckage was cleared.

A 30-year-old man, who had been driving a Ford Ranger pick-up, had previously been arrested in connection with the crash and released pending further enquiries.

In an update issued this afternoon (Monday), police say he has now been charged.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "A report detailing the circumstances will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, and the man is expected to appear in court at a later date."
