Emergency services are responding to an incident on the A7 between Edinburgh and Galashiels.

Police, fire and ambulance crews have been scrambled to the scene, following a report of an accident involving a motorcycle - on the bends just south of Fountainhall.

The road has been blocked, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

The alarm was raised shortly before midday on Friday. At least two ambulances, two fire crews and police were quickly on the scene.

Diversions are in place via the A68.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: The A7 is closed in both directions north of Stow due to a road crash which was reported at 11.35am on Friday.

"Emergency services are in attendance.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use the B6368 - A68 - B6362 instead."

Another crash was also reported around the same time, further south on the A7, just north of Ashkirk. The road was blocked for a short time, but police say there are no reports of any injuries.

A fuel spillage on the A702 both ways at Carlops has also led to delays this afternoon.
