Tributes are being paid to a teenager reported missing in the Scottish Borders after police found a body.

Kamile Gimbutyle (pictured) - also known as Rhian - was last seen in the Melrose area around 2pm on Sunday.

It was believed the 18-year-old had gone hiking in the Eildon Hills.

A search and rescue helicopter and Borders Water Rescue Team joined the search.

A public appeal was issued on Monday morning as concerns grew for the Melrose teenager's well-being.

And, later that day, police confirmed they had found a body.

A spokesperson said: "Formal identification is yet to take place, but the family of missing teenager Kamile Gimbutyle has been informed."

Officers say there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Paying tribute online, a former colleague said: "What a shame, beautiful person. Was a pleasure to work with you 💕"

Another added: "Just utterly heart-breaking. I would see them often with a little Jack Russell dog. They were always very quiet but such a pretty person. Thoughts are with their family at this very sad time xxx"
