Horses arrived decorated in tinsel for the Duke of Buccleuch's Hounds' traditional Christmas Eve meet.

Spectators - including the former Lord Lieutenant himself - gathered at Eildon Hall this morning (Wednesday) to wave the riders off.

It's one of several festive gatherings across the Borders planned over the coming weeks, with a first Boxing Day visit to Kelso town square at noon on Thursday followed by the traditional New Year's Day meet in Melrose.

Chairman Allan Murray told Greatest Hits Radio: "It's part of the social scene in this part of Scotland where people come out to meet each other; these are traditional meets and we want to continue them."
