Dolphins have been putting on a show for visitors along the Northumberland coast this summer.

David Thomson, who runs boat trips from Berwick, has been sharing footage of the marine mammals performing "acrobatics" on his page Berwick Boat Trips.

Children can be heard screaming in delight in one clip, which is captioned: "The excitement of the kids says it all!"

Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio from his boat, the Border Belle, David said: "Dolphin sightings this year have been up and down a little bit, but when we see them there's a lot more jumping and breaching round about the boat.

"We are getting people coming from all over on their holidays for the chance to see them. There's always disappointment for the people who don't see them.

"We've just had a school trip and the first half got a great display from the dolphins. Unfortunately, straight back out with the second half and they were gone."

Nevertheless, he added: "This year they seem to be a little bit more acrobatic than the last two or three years."
