People are being encouraged to have their say on plans for a new network of 60-metre high electricity pylons through the Scottish Borders before the consultation closes on Friday, May 2nd.

We've been speaking to both a local hotelier and SP Energy Networks about the proposals for the new overhead power line, which it's envisaged would connect a new substation near Lauder, to another near Newcastleton.

Jane Johnston, from Lauderdale Preservation Group, says it's important local voices are heard and that the decision on whether to proceed with the current route is not a foregone conclusion.
