The East of Scotland League side has announced this weekend's game away to Peebles Rovers has been postponed following the incident, in which a red Vauxhall Corsa is alleged to have mounted the pavement and struck him before driving off.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and released under investigation.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the Marygate area around 12.30am on Wednesday (January 1st), or who may have camera footage which could help their investigation, to contact them.
A spokesperson for Coldstream Football Club said: "Our thoughts and wishes deeply go out to Jack and his family, which has left our club, committee and players sincerely shocked and wishing Jack a speedy recovery.
"Resultingly, for the well-being and mental mindset of our players, we have requested a postponement of Saturday's fixture versus Peebles Rovers."
