Court hears man caught with more than a kilo of cocaine after police swoop on car in Galashiels

A 36-year-old man from the Glasgow area was caught with more than a kilo of cocaine after police stopped a car in Galashiels.
Officers found Alan Skedzielewski in possession of the Class A drug when they swooped on the vehicle in the town's Melrose Road on September the 9th, 2021.
Selkirk Sheriff Court heard the haul was valued at between £54,000 and £217,000.
Skedzielewski, who gave an address in Milton of Campsie, admitted being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug when he appeared in the dock today (Monday).
Sentence has been deferred for background reports until November the 25th.
But Sheriff Peter Paterson warned him custody is "the most likely outcome".
Animal ban
A 19-year-old man from the Borders has admitted causing a dog named Buster unnecessary suffering by feeding it medication, which caused it to become unwell.
Ethan Graham said he heard a voice telling him to commit the offence after being left alone with the family pet at the home they shared in Yarrowford in November last year.
But Selkirk Sheriff Court was told the dog was treated by a vet and there was no long-term harm.
Graham's been fined a total of £210, and banned from possessing or owning any animals for five years.
Sex Offenders Register
A 26-year-old man has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register after attempting to meet a 15-year-old girl in Galashiels.
Alasdair Saunders, from Stow, asked the youngster to meet him at the side of the Volunteer Hall where, he said, there were less cameras, after striking up a conversation with her on SnapChat.
Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Monday) heard he sped off in his car when he was approached by the teenager's mum on July the 28th this year.
Sentence has been deferred for background reports until December the 9th.
Supervision order
A 29-year-old man who threatened to cause damage to Hawick police station during a 999 call has avoided a custodial sentence.
Alastair Cox also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner at Borders General Hospital during a separate incident earlier this year.
At Selkirk Sheriff Court today he was given a one-year supervision order and fined a total of £210.
