Car found alight in Borders village following deliberate attack, police say

Police are appealing for information after a car was found set alight in a Borders village.

Firefighters were called out to Todburn Way in Clovenfords shortly after 5am this morning (Tuesday).

Officers say no-one was injured but they are treating the incident as deliberate.

It comes just days after two barns full of hay were found alight, around 15 miles away, at a farm near Heriot.

Referring to the latest incident of wilful fire-raising, Detective Constable Liam Myers, from Police Scotland, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this incident.

“Although this happened early this morning, we would appeal to anyone who has any information surrounding the fire to come forward and speak to police.”
