Man, 41, appears in court charged with rape of a young child
A 41-year-old man from the Scottish Borders has been charged with the rape of a child under 13 years of age.
Craig Brown was accused of a total of eight sexual offences when he appeared in private and on petition at Jedburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday).
He also faces another charge of rape, two counts of sexual assault on a child, in addition to charges relating to communicating indecently with a child under 16 years of age, and causing a child to look at sexual images.
Brown, of Newtown St Boswells, made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
Bail was refused and he was remanded in custody by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
He is due to appear in court again next week.
