British Transport Police have issued an appeal to track down a man who they say was involved in a racially-aggravated altercation on the Borders Railway.

It's claimed passengers on a train between Edinburgh and Tweedbank were left distressed by the incident, which happened on December 15th last year.

The suspect, who's alleged to have used what's being described as "racially offensive language", boarded the 8.42pm service from Edinburgh Waverley and disembarked in Galashiels.

He is described as being a shorter white man, of medium build, in his late 40s or early 50s; having dirty fair hair with a receding hairline.

He was clean shaven, with a Scottish accent, and was wearing glasses, a blue top and blue jeans.
