A number of train services on the Borders Railway have been cancelled or delayed after emergency services were called to an incident in Galashiels.

It happened between 10.30am and midday today (Tuesday).

But train operator ScotRail revealed the disruption is expected to continue between Edinburgh and the Borders into this evening.

A spokesperson said: "We've been assisting the police who were dealing with an incident earlier near Tweedbank.

"This means services may still be subject to delay or revision as we focus on getting trains and crew back into position following this incident."

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Galashiels railway station at around 11.10am today (July 11th) following reports of concern for welfare.

"Officers attended and a person was taken to a place of safety."

The ScotRail website warned of disruption to services.
