WATCH: Stage is set in Melrose for return of Borders Book Festival

Famous faces from the world of TV, politics, sport and comedy are set to converge on Melrose this weekend for the return of the Borders Book Festival.

The four-day event gets underway with the announcement of the winner of the Walter Scott Prize for Historial Fiction this evening (Thursday),

Hawick Rugby Club President Ian Landles, Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant and former Labour Home Secretary Alan Johnson are among the guests set to appear on the opening day.

There are also appearances from Greatest Hits Radio presenter Fred MacAulay and festival favourite Rory Bremner.

This year's event - which runs from June 13th to 16th - will also pay tribute to Olympic champion Eric Liddell, to mark the centenary of his 400 metres win in Paris.

Fellow athletes Allan Wells and Eilidh Doyle will be among the guests, along with Liddell’s niece Sue Caton and the runner's biographer, Sally Magnusson.
