Air ambulance called out and road closed following crash

A man's been airlifted to hospital following a crash on the A6088 near Bonchester Bridge earlier.

Police, fire and ambulance crews raced to the scene after the alarm was raised shortly before 9am this morning (Tuesday).

And the road was closed between the Jedburgh and Newcastleton turn-offs.

The casualty's injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the red Suzuki Swift involved in the incident to contact them.

Road Policing Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “We are asking for anyone who was in the area this morning and believes they saw the Suzuki Swift involved, or motorists who may have possible dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0679 of July 11th, 2023.”
