Volunteers across the Borders are coming together this weekend for a big community clean-up.

Around 600kgs of rubbish was collected by 180 people at the last event in Berwickshire in September.

Alice Fisher is from local charity Sea the Change, which is organising the litter pick.

She said: “So many of the environmental issues we are facing seem so enormous that it feels like we are powerless, and that there is no way we can make a difference.

"But these community clean-ups show that many small acts, when you add them together, can have a huge impact, and that when we pull together, we have the power to make the world a better place.”

Among the areas being targeted are the picturesque beach at Coldingham (Sunday, 11am); Burnmouth Harbour (Saturday, 10am), and Eyemouth (meeting at the Tavern Bar - Sunday, 11am).

But events are also planned at the village halls in Foulden, Grantshouse, and Westruther on Saturday; and Ayton, Oxton and Paxton on Sunday (most starting at 10am).
