Man, 56, dies after emergency services swoop on address in Berwick

Police have confirmed a 56-year-old man has died after officers were called to an address in Berwick.

Emergency services swooped on the property in the town's Marygate after the alarm was raised, shortly before 5pm on Saturday.

The man's next of kin have been informed.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 5pm on Saturday (April 13th), we received a report from the ambulance service of concern for a male at an address on Marygate in Berwick, Northumberland.

“Emergency services attended and despite the efforts of paramedics the man – aged 56 – was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later.

“Officers do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death, which has now been referred to the coroner."
