'He lost everything' - Crowdfunder launched to help Berwick dad forced to flee home following fire
Last updated 14th May 2023
The Berwick community is rallying round to support a local dad forced to flee his home following a fire at the weekend.
Paul Robison's house in St Andrew's Road was gutted in the early-morning blaze on Friday, which also claimed the life of his pet bird, Pika.
An online crowdfunder has been launched by his daughter, Amie, alongside an image showing the charred remains of the residential property, and has already raised more than £1,200.
She revealed her dad was asleep in bed when the fire started, and woke to fire alarms going off around 6.40am.
Crews from Duns and Eyemouth supported firefighters from Berwick in extinguishing it.

Paul was treated at the scene by the North East Ambulance Service, before being given the all-clear.
But Amie said: "He lost everything - clothes, furniture... even a beloved pet.
"My dad is having to stay with my gran - his mum - as there is nothing left of the house."
And, in a plea for help, she added: "The tiniest little penny could get my dad something he needs and get him back on his feet."
