An investigation's been launched after a man was found with fatal injuries in Berwick.

Emergency services swooped on Church Street after the alarm was raised shortly after 4pm today (Tuesday).

But, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man - in his 40s - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the cause of death and are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the Northumberland town.

It's understood the man was found close to the town's police station, which is also in Church Street - a narrow road of homes and businesses, between the town's Barracks and main shopping street.

Officers do not believe there to be any third-party involvement in the man’s death and say there is no threat to the wider public.

Anyone with information regarding the man’s death can speak to officers at the scene or by calling 101, quoting NP-20230523-0836.
