Shocking images have emerged of the damage vandals have caused to the cricket ground at Berwick.

A vehicle appears to have ripped up the grassy area by performing what's known as "donuts" on the picturesque site in Pier Road.

It happened sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning - an appeal's been issued for information.

A spokesperson for England's most northerly club said: "The club are horrified to discover the state that our playing ground has been left in due to moronic behaviours.

"Despite it being our off season, a lot of hard work goes into the upkeep of our facilities and are completed by volunteers. We do not pay anyone to do the work for us.

"If anyone has any information about this, please contact us."

Meanwhile, a teenager who damaged a car in Galashiels by jumping on it, and smashed the window of two others with a hammer, has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.

Selkirk Sheriff Court heard Owen Boyd - who gave an address in the town's Church Square - struck in Scott Street following a night drinking on June the 30th last year.

In addition to the Community Payback Order, the 18-year-old has been ordered to pay £624 in compensation.

Police were called to Scott Street in Galashiels.
