Police unearth cannabis farm in centre of Berwick
Last updated 10th Jan 2024
Police have dismantled a cannabis farm in the centre of Berwick.
Officers swooped on a property on Marygate after being tipped off to suspicious activity in the area.
It's understood around 30 plants were seized.
Enquiries are ongoing.
A photograph shown online shows a number of police cars parked near the entrance to the property, in Golden Square.
It's the latest in a series of illegal cultivations unearthed in our region in recent months, following raids in Galashiels, Selkirk - where around 1,400 plants, valued at £1.2m, were found - and Hawick.
One local said: "I seen all the police cars and seen them carrying stuff out but never thought it would be something like that." Another added: "It reeked of weed there last week."
