Disturbance to badger sett in Berwickshire prompts police probe

Police are probing disturbance to a badger's sett in Berwickshire.

According to officers, a large complex of tunnels near Chirnsidebridge has been "dug into and then filled in".

It happened sometime between Boxing Day and last weekend.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We have had a report of a large badger sett being disturbed north of Chirnsidebridge, Berwickshire, between December 26th and January 20th.

"Interfering with a badger sett is a criminal offence and we ask that any persons with information regarding this incident contact us on 101, quoting incident number 2549 of 20/01/24."
