Gridlock in Galashiels following crash near primary school on A7

A section of the A7 through Galashiels has been closed following a crash outside a local primary school.
Emergency services - including at least three ambulances - raced to the scene in Abbotsford Road after the alarm was raised shortly before 11am this morning (Thursday).
Two cars appear to have collided outside St Peter's Primary School.
A third car was also being loaded onto a recovery vehicle shortly after midday. It is unclear if it is connected.
A log lorry which had also been caught up in the drama has since been allowed to leave the police cordon.

The road is currently closed between the mini roundabouts at the town's Public Park and top of Braw Lads' Brae, causing large tailbacks on surrounding roads.
Police are directing traffic, but motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
No word yet on the extent of any injuries but officers expect the route will be closed for some time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A7 (Abbotsford Road) in Galashiels is closed following a two-vehicle crash reported to police around 10.55am.
"Emergency services are in attendance and road users are advised to avoid the area."
Traffic came to a standstill for a time in Huddersfield Street, Tweed Road, Melrose Road and Currie Road, as motorists followed diversions.
Borders Buses is also warning passengers to expect disruption to its services.

A spokesperson said: "Please note due to a closure near St Peter School, 67, 68, x95, 73 will be diverting via Langlee until further notice in both directions.
"Service 67 and 68 will operate via Langlee, Lowood Bridge to follow regular route from Tweedbank.
"Service X95 and 73 will operate via Langlee, Lowood Bridge Kingsknowes roundabout for onwards travel to Selkirk, Hawick and Carlisle.
"Service 74 will only be operating via Huddersfield Street omitting Tweed Road and Abbotsford Road."
