A pensioner has been charged in connection with a crash in the Scottish Borders, which left two people dead.

It happened on the A7 between Galashiels and Selkirk around 3.25pm on Saturday, November 26th, 2022.

Police at the time said a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver Honda Jazz were involved in a collision at its junction with the B7060 road, which leads to Yair.

A 90-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman died at the scene. They were named as Keith Holme, from Melrose, and Janette Tait, of Selkirk (pictured above).

Mr Holme was the driver and sole occupant of the Honda Jazz. He served for over 30 years as a pharmacist at Holme's The Chemist, and a statement released at the time said he will be sorely missed by his family and the community he served in Galashiels.

Ms Tait was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta which was travelling in the opposite direction. She was described as "a loving wife and mother" and "a wonderful grandmother to her three grandchildren".
