Two children are among four people taken to hospital following a two-car crash in the Scottish Borders.
The incident unfolded on the A699 road between Selkirk and St Boswells around 2.40pm this afternoon (Sunday).
Emergency services raced to the scene, near the Bowden crossroads, after the alarm was raised - with eyewitnesses reporting both vehicles had burst into flames.
A 35-year-old woman was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment, while a man, aged 36, and two children, aged 8 and 14, also attended at the Emergency Department in Melrose as a precaution.
Police say a 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and a report detailing the circumstances will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The road was closed between the Bowden crossroads and the A68 while both cars were recovered.
